Our team of teachers and staff provides a nurturing environment to support both creative and cognitive development. Our teachers are highly skilled, creative, and passionate about what they teach. They believe in the potential of every student. In addition to our 17 classroom teachers, we have part-time staff that includes a school librarian, a PE coach, a school psychologist, a learning support professional, a resources specialist, and a speech therapist. Sunnyside PTA attracts several artists-in-residence for semester long rotations, including a visual artist, poet, dancer, aerial choreographer, vocal music teacher, and instrumental music teachers. Through the PTA, we also have a reading specialist and will soon bring on a math specialist and
garden educator.

At Sunnyside, teachers are frequently assisted in the classroom by student teachers, parents, and volunteers. We are fortunate to have close ties to San Francisco State University’s teaching credential program and to City College of San Francisco, and our children benefit from the energy and ideas of these educators-in-training.
