Sunnyside Soccer

Sunnyside parents and volunteers have organized several school teams which are part of the YMCA League and SF Vikings League. We currently have five teams!
  • Sunnyside Eagles - Kindergarten mixed
  • Sunnyside Lightnings - 1st Grade mixed
  • Sunnyside Ball Hogs - 2nd Grade mixed
  • Sunnyside Ups - 3rd Grade boys
  • Sunnyside Rays - 3rd & 4th Grade girls

Sunnyside Eagles
The Sunnyside Eagles are the school’s kindergarten soccer team.  Made up of beginner and more experienced boys and girls, the kids have been having a lot of fun practicing at Balboa Park and playing games through San Francisco Microsoccer, under the fearless leadership of Coach Fro Rosqueta.
Sunnyside Lightnings
Our school's lightning fast  soccer team of first-graders. Made up of boys and girls mostly from Sunnyside, the Lightnings are now in their second season, playing in the San Francisco Vikings microsoccer league.
Sunnyside Ball Hogs - aka "The Highlighters"
The second graders are very excited about their brand new team the Ball Hogs.  They have just (April 2013) had their first game and are looking forward to the rest of the Spring Season.

Sunnyside Ups
Fall 2013 marks the fifth season for the mighty Sunnyside Ups. Composed primarily of Sunnyside Elementary 4th graders, the Ups have been taking on their SF Vikings League rivals each Saturday in the Fall, recently also playing the winter season. Under the guidance of coaches Roman & Andy, and manager Katherine, the team has been continually gaining new athletic skills, celebrating friendships and cultivating an understanding of sportsmanship when faced with Ups and downs. Go Team Ups and see you on the pitch!

Sunnyside Rays Last Fall (2012) the girls had a very successful season by making it to the Championship Game of the Viking League.   They lost by the score of 2-1.
