Sunnyside parents and volunteers have organized several school teams which are part of the SF Vikings League. We currently have three teams!

• Sunnyside Ups - 2nd Grade Boys
• Sunnyside Rays - 2nd & 3rd Grade Girls
• Sunnyside Eagles - 3rd Grade Boys

Sunnyside Ups
Fall 2011 marks the third season for the mighty Sunnyside Ups. Composed primarily of Sunnyside Elementary 2nd graders, the Ups have been taking on their SF Vikings League rivals each Saturday this fall. Under the guidance of coaches Brian and Roman, the team has been continually gaining new athletic skills, celebrating friendships and cultivating an understanding of sportsmanship when faced with Ups and downs. Go Team Ups and see you on the pitch!

Sunnyside Rays and Eagles
Our girls and boys are bonding and learning what it means to be part of a team. While I certainly wouldn't mind if our win/loss record was better, I think that it is a valuable lesson, if not more so. We have an end-of-season potluck/picnic which includes the wildly popular kids vs. parents soccer game. The kids, in particular love to take on the parents. And this year, the timing of the final games allowed us to do a combined event with the boys and girls teams. One parent described the game - "It's like playing against a virus" as almost two dozen kids would immediately descend on and surround any parent that touched the ball.
