LUNCH & RECESS
LUNCH
REVOLUTION FOODS
SFUSD is excited to let you know that effective January 7, 2013 students will be served fresh, not frozen, meals! SNS has a new meals contract with Revolution Foods, an Oakland based company that serves freshly prepared meals.
WHAT WILL CHANGE?
There are not many changes (other than menu) with our new food vendor, Revolution Foods.
WHAT WILL STAY THE SAME?
RECESS
K’s have 3 recesses per day: a morning and an afternoon recess (which are K only) and a lunch recess with the 1st & 2nd graders.
In addition, we have 3 paid yard monitors, provided through a grant and PTA funds, as well as 2-3 parent volunteers on the yard during lunch recess every day. We also often have PE interns organizing games during recess.

WHAT WILL CHANGE?

- Fresh meals will be made the day before at a Culinary Center in Oakland, CA.
- Daily ‘Family Style’ vegetable option will be available - similar to a salad bar, students can serve themselves.
- Freshly cooked meals will take less time to heat than the meals served last semester.
- Your delivery time may change, but with a shorter cook time meals will still be served on time. Please contact us if your lunch time changes.
- Monthly menus will be posted on the web at: http://www.sfusd.edu/en/nutrition-school-meals/menus.html
- Our new partnership with Revolution Foods will include outreach events and promotional activities to increase the number of children who eat school meals. Later this month, SNS will provide information about Revolution Foods strategies for sharing information with students, families, and school communities.
WHAT WILL STAY THE SAME?
- Meal prices will stay the same - $1.50 breakfast and $3.00. Adults $2.00 breakfast and $3.50 for lunch.
- Families to prepay at www.MyPaymentsPlus.com<http://www.MyPaymentsPlus.com>
- Meals will continue to be delivered daily and lunch will be served the same day it is delivered.
- At elementary schools, students requesting the vegetarian option must place their order one week ahead of time with your cafeteria employee.
- Notify Student Nutrition Services about Field Trips two weeks in advance of the trip. If students are going to be off campus, schools must offer students a bag lunch and let Student Nutrition Service know so the number of lunches ordered can be reduced to minimize waste. Notify Online:https://district.sfusd.edu/dept/SNS/Bag%20Lunch%20Form%202011/Forms/AllItems.aspx
- Packaging will continue to be recyclable not compostable. SNS is working with Revolution Foods to explore way to offer affordable compostable packaging.
