Renovation Update / Committee Meeting - 2/22 02/22/2012
_The Sunnyside staff developed a needs assessment regarding what should be done during our renovation. We would like you to join us in revising and refining this list. It will be used to guide our work with the project manager and general contractor once they are chosen. We will have a SSC/PTA joint community meeting on Wednesday 2/22 at 6:00 p.m. Food and childcare will be provided. Please join us and be a part of shaping Sunnyside for the decades to come. _Join Principal Simard and our SSC members at this year’s School Planning Summit on Saturday 2/11. At this whole-district meeting, you will have opportunities to learn about various topics of school planning including developing the site plan (called a Balanced Scorecard or BSC), site budgeting, as well as curriculum and program topics. You can also wear an international outfit or bring something from another country to share. Please bring an international salad or main dish to serve at least 8 adults, depending on your last name. _Our next meeting will be after intake on Monday, February 6th. This is an open forum where parents/guardians bring the topics. In past meetings, we have discussed topics as varied as special education, the State/District budget, differentiated instruction, and parent support of the school. Join us and share in the conversation. _Thursday, February 2nd 6:00 to 7:30 pm Sunnyside Cafeteria Come join us for a fun evening of card making with your family! We will have supplies for kids and parents to make Valentine's Day cards together. Dinner and drinks will be sold from 6-6:30pm and the card making will happen from 6:15-7:30pm. What You Need to Bring: markers, any recycled materials to share (wrapping paper, old maps/magazines/books/cards, swatches of wallpaper, glitter, buttons, ribbons, tin foil, and any other paper products or small decorations that you think can be used) What We Will Provide: blank cards, scissors, glue, crayons, and many recycled materials to inspire your card designs A representative from SCRAP, a nonprofit that promotes the creative reuse of materials that traditionally have been thrown away, will be there to share recycled materials and tips.
