PTA Board & Committee Chairs

President
​Jessica Cohen leads the PTA board and committees, first point of  contact for new families and anyone with questions for the principal.

Lila Nelson conducts school tours, contact for the larger neighborhood and city community, acts on the President's behalf when s/he isn't available.​

Nicole Miller surveys families and oversees a secure database of information for internal use.

This unfilled position makes sure our PTA is compliant with rules and regulations.

Lara Burns assembles agenda for PTA board meetings, takes notes, and distributes them after.

Communications

Community Events
Suna Mullins and Sarah Octaviano host events that connect families to one another. Email:

Diversity & Inclusion
Norae Ferrara and Liz Pascual
 ensure that the school community supports families from every socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and LGBTQ background and those with special needs.

Grants
Margaret Hosel​ seeks extra funds for Sunnyside from outside organizations, which don’t have to be repaid.

Health & Wellness
Marcia Pendergast and Regan Porcelli​
 work to keep families safe through Drop Zone, Bike and Walk, lunchtime recycling, and other programs.

Head Room Parent/Volunteer Coordinator
Chantelle Thomas keeps all class room parents informed so they can keep parents in the loop about school news.

Technology
Joy Forsythe
 assesses classroom and school tech needs; buys and distributes hardware and software.

Treasurer
Nick Reavil manages the PTA’s accounts, oversees the PTA’s budget, assists with payments, taxes, and auditing.

Financial Secretary
Mitsuyo Swingle makes deposits of PTA funds.​

Academics
Maria Galagos and Jamaica Maxwell support learning at the school through events, software, consultants, and programs such as the Winter Read-A- Thon.

Simone Sebalo works with our aftercare provider and families to meet students’ needs.

Jessica Golm and Meredith Nonnenberg host craft events and encourage art creation and performance in school.

Heather Bennett and Catherine Hazelton help Sunnyside families and staffers in need, and organize charitable giving and ways for kids to volunteer.

Fundraising

 host events and drives to raise money for the school, with help from SpringFest chairs Debbie Bessinger and Joanna Robinson.
