Happy Summer! We’d like to announce two upcoming playdates for incoming Kindergarten families, so we can all get a chance to know each other before school starts:

Look for Jenny (PTA VP and mom to an incoming K) — she and her daughter are easy to spot as they both have bright red hair!

SpringFest!

We have so much in store for SpringFest 2011!

FUN – Carnival games, art show, silent auction and raffle, with a trip for 4 to Disneyland as the grand prize!

FOOD – Ritual Coffee, baked goods, grass-fed hot dogs from Let’s Be Frank, hamburgers and veggie burgers, fruit cups, quinoa and wild rice salad, stick-to-your-ribs veggie chile and savory empanadas

ENTERTAINMENT – The premiere of WALL BALL/throw yourself in by Flyaway Productions. Show times on Saturday are 11 am and 2 pm, with shows continuing Sunday through Thursday.

BE THERE! – Saturday, May 21, 11 am – 3 pm at Sunnyside Elementary (250 Foerster St.)

View the online catalog. The catalog is refreshed every day with new items – be sure to check back. You can browse and print a wish list to bring with you to SpringFest.

The site will be open online from May 6-20. The actual silent auction will take place at SpringFest on May 21st.

Volunteer for SpringFest

Looking for a fun, easy way to help Sunnyside Elementary, engage with students, and meet other parents? Volunteer to run a game at SpringFest! Getting plenty of volunteers means that shifts only have to be 1 hour and 15 minutes long, giving you plenty of time to enjoy SpringFest with your family.

It is just one of the great times when our school comes together in a spirit of friendship and community, all centered around this celebration. Welcome to all new families assigned to Sunnyside for the 2011-2012 school year!

The Sunnyside PTA is hosting a reception for new families at Sunnyside on Saturday, April 9, at 10 am. Principal Simard will speak briefly. Sunnyside parents will be on-hand to answer your questions about kindergarten and the transition from preschool to elementary school. Coffee, juice, pastries and bagels will be served.
