BEFORE & AFTER
Walk & Roll Wednesday Details
"Walk and Roll Wednesday" is a year round program to encourage students to walk, cycle or scooter to school. Families can join our weekly walking bus (see map) and meet other families! There are individual prizes to keep students motivated and class competitions for the “Golden Boot Award.”
Walking to school is a lot less stressful than driving, it reduces congestion around the school and exercise in the morning has been linked to improved school performance.
What if I live too far away?
If you have to drive your child to school, please consider parking outside the “Walk and Roll” boundary map above, so that he or she can be counted as having participated. Also, this way the children will get more exercise! Carpooling counts: share a ride with other families to participate. Of course, if you live within the boundary and walk or roll to school, it counts too.
How to participate:
· park and walk at least 3 blocks from the school
· carpooling with another family on Wednesday mornings
· taking the public transit on Wednesdays
· meet at Sunnyside Park and join the walking school bus
