Back to School Night will be held Thursday, September 1st. Two sessions for those of you with more than one classroom to visit.
Session 1: 5:30-6:00
Session 2: 6:15-6:45
This is a chance for the 1-5th grade parents to see their kid's classroom, meet the teacher, and hear about how the classroom is run, find out what they do during the day, and what's expected throughout the year (curriculum, etc.). You can also ask the teacher general questions.
K is not included in back to school night, as there was a K orientation the night before school started.
THIS IS A PARENTS ONLY EVENT!!
Please join us for the first PTA Meeting of the year. It's our biggest and will include a presentations by Principal John Simard, our PTA president, Cathy Meyer, and all of the PTA committee chairs. Childcare and pizza for the kids will be provided. Meeting 5:45 - 6:45pm in the Sunnyside Auditorium.
Students in grades 1-5 will receive their assignments when class lists are posted to the front entrance of the school on Friday, August 12 at 4:00 p.m. An electronic version of this will be available via email to members of the Sunnyside PTA Yahoo group.
Orientation Night – 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Sunnyside Elementary School
Find out who your child’s teacher will be and attend a 30-minute classroom info session with her. Free on-site childcare provided for the classroom info session; after the session, the children can meet their teacher and see their classrooms.
A reminder that the K meet and greet is this Tuesday August 8th at 2pm, at
Sunnyside Elementary School.
Please bring your child to the cafeteria/auditorium (turn left after entering
the school's main entrance, and go to the end of the hall.) You will pick up a
colored name-tag for your child and hear a brief talk from the Principal.
The children will then be split into 3 groups, based on name-tag color, and led
by PTA volunteers to the 3 classrooms where the teachers will be waiting. Each
group will spend 10 minutes in each classroom doing a different activity with
the teacher (drawing, playing, storytime.)
The parents/caregivers will wait in the cafeteria during the 30 minutes of
rotations. As you can guess, our K team is very experienced with new
kindergarteners and will make the experience fun, warm and comfortable for all
See you tomorrow - I'll be there with my own incoming K :)
